Getting the correct Bird Aviary

A aviary is the most important piece of equipment you’ll need to purchase for your new bird. A suitable aviary can help your bird stay healthy and safe. There are a lot of bird aviaries on the market, which can make it difficult for the the new bird keeper.. How does the bird owner select the right one?

Firstly, make a point to research about the the type of bird you wish to keep. In keeping any type of parakeet, cockatiel or some other long tailed bird species, you will need a long aviary so that your bird can get enough exercise. If possible ensure the aviary is sufficiently long enough so the bird can actually fly from one side to the other. A bird with a heavyset body, such as a lovebird or a Sengal parrot, will be able to get a good deal of exercise by climbing around the aviary. This type of bird will do better in an aviary that is taller.

You should then consider the size of the bird aviary. Generally it is a good idea to buy the largest aviary you can pay for your bird, a newly weaned handfed baby bird may feel lost and terrified in a large aviary. Some young birds may have trouble finding their water dishes. If it is affordable, buying a smaller aviary while your bird is a baby and them moving onto a bigger aviary when it is older would be a good idea.

It is also a good idea to keep in mind the spacing between the aviary bars. A great looking bird aviary is not very effective if your bird can fit through the bars! If you’re considering using an aviary with wire mesh, you should compare the size of the hole in the mesh with the size of your bird’s head prior to making your choice. If the bird aviary is made from one inch mesh , it will allow a cockatiel to put his head through. When cockatiels bring their heads back through the bars, they have been known to bend into a ‘U’ shape and put their heads into a different hole.

When you have determined the aviary size and bar spacing, look at a few other facets of bird aviary design. Looking at the cage tray. When you remove it to clean it, is there a grate in the aviary to prevent the bird from escaping? Is the tray of the aviary deep enough to catch the mess of your bird? Even if the aviary has a deep tray, you still may find that your bird scatters a lot of seed hulls and feathers on the floor if there’s no cage apron. You can place the aviary in a plastic apron base or cover the bottom with a cloth apron but an in built metal apron is a better choice.

Finally, do not forget to have a look at the aviary cups. There should be a way for you to easily access the cups without reaching into the aviary through the main door. If you are buying a bird aviary for a larger bird, the cups should actually bolt to the aviary unless you want to spend every morning and afternoon for the next 50 years reaching for cups that your bird has flung onto the bottom of the bird aviary

If you a replacing a bird aviary for an older parrot type bird, some owners have told me it’s crucial to get a bird cage of the same colour. It is assumed that if a bird is used to a coloured painted aviary, it will not cope easily with a metal coloured aviary.

Having a pet is very expensive, when you are living in the metro city. Dog food, vet care and grooming supplies all these cost a good deal of money. Dogs make lovely pets but they also need vet care more often compared to cats. Since your dog’s health is very important, you need to make sure that you get the best vet care for your pet. You need to find a good vet that you can trust with your pet’s life. Yes, the best vet care will cost you some money but if you get pet insurance coverage, you do not have to worry about paying for emergency vet care for your pet. By investing a few dollars in monthly premiums, you can render your dog with the best vet care.

Choosing The Right Pet Insurance Coverage

Choosing the right pet insurance coverage is very important. There are a number of things that you need to look into before you get an insurance policy for your pet. First, you need to make sure that the pet insurance policy gives comprehensive coverage for you pet. Note that different breeds of dogs have different needs. Before you get an insurance policy for your pet, study the vet care needs of your pet. Read literatures about the common health care problems of certain breeds of dogs. Pure breed dogs often need more intensive vet care compared to mongrels so if you have a pure breed at home, consider getting a comprehensive insurance coverage for your dog.

The second thing that you need to consider when buying insurance policy for your pet is the cost. Some types of pet insurance policies are more expensive than the others. However, just because an insurance policy is expensive, that does not mean that such policy can cover for all the medical needs of your dog. Some expensive insurance policies are loaded with useless features that are only designed to increase the price of the policy. To make sure that you are getting the best value out from your money, read the fine lines on the insurance policy first before you sign it. You may also ask the insurance underwriter to explain to you in full the fine print provisions on the insurance policy. Unless you are satisfied with the explanations given to you by the insurance underwriter, do not sign the policy first. You do not really want to end up paying for something that does not give your dog the right coverage.

Let me ask you a simple question:  Do you know how natural feline urinary support can prevent frequent cat urinary problems?  If your cat suffers from cat bladder infection, there are three ways you can support feline urinary health.

Diet And Feline Urinary Support

Your cat’s diet is extremely important in promoting cat urinary health.  Many cat owners are unaware that a one-year study showed that feeding a high-quality canned food reduced feline urinary problems significantly.  Why is this?

It’s a known fact that the best way to prevent feline lower urinary tract disease, or FLUTD, is to increase the amount of water that goes through your cat.  The easiest way to do this is to feed him canned cat food, which has a moisture level of around 75%.This is more like your cat’s natural diet.

You see, cats are meant to get most of their water intake from their food.  Dry cat food has a very low moisture level, under ten percent.  A cat who eats only dry food must drink a lot of water to get enough fluid intake to prevent cat urinary problems.  Unfortunately, it can be very difficult to get your cat to drink enough water, since he doesn’t naturally do this.

A cat with a low water intake is more than likely chronically dehydrated.  His urine is very concentrated, which can lead to cat bladder stones.  These stones irritate the bladder wall, and cause feline cystitis, which is a bladder inflammation.  Just feeding your cat moist food can help to prevent this problem.

Another way to get your cat to drink more water is to divide his food into three equal amounts and feed him three times a day.  It’s been shown that feeding your cat two or three times a day as opposed to once a day is associated with an increase in his daily water intake.

Reduce Cat Stress To Reduce Cat Bladder Infection Problems

Cats appear to lead charmed lives, but this isn’t really true.  Our kitties are creatures of habit, and they don’t like changes at all.  Moving to a new home, remodeling, adding a new pet or person to your household, and even changing your feline’s food causes cat stress.  Cats don’t handle stress well.  In fact, stress in cats has been linked to feline idiopathic cystitis, which is a bladder inflammation that doesn’t appear to have any cause.

Be on the lookout for anything that’s stressing your cat.  Reducing or removing the cause of the stress may help to reduce cat urinary problems.

Natural FLUTD Treatments

Humans have been dealing with bladder infections since the beginning of time.Herbs were the usual treatment for this condition before we had access to modern antibiotics.  In many parts of the world, they still are.  Can these natural remedies work on cats too?

The answer is yes.  Uva ursi and barberry are two herbs that have stood the test of time for treating cystitis in people. The homeopathic remedies Cantharis and Staphysagris are well-known for treating human urinary tract infections successfully.  These four remedies have been specially formulated into a remedy that’s not only safe, but effective, to prevent feline urinary problems.

For your cat’s safety, be sure to make your purchase only from a long-established company that’s well-known for producing only the highest quality natural pet remedies.

Do your kitty a favor and improve his cat urinary health by using natural feline urinary support to prevent cat bladder infection.

How Does Cat Pet Training Work?

Many cat owners are probably not aware that cat pet training can actually work. There are limitations as to what your cat will do.

If you think you are going to train your cat to retrieve a stick, fetch the paper, or play dead, then forget it, buy a dog.

The differences in cat training and dog training are vast. Cats are independent animals, however they will respond to treats and rewards, basically they will want to know what is in it for them if they do something for you. Fling a stick for your cat, and it will think "yeah right"? If it's important to you, well you fetch it".

Using punishment to train a cat will not work either; all it will do is alienate the cat from coming anywhere near you. Train your cat by putting something on offer when it does something good. I'm not talking about rewarding your cat when it does something wrong, but rewarding it when it does something right.

Punishing your cat when it misbehaves is the wrong approach, you will get further by ignoring what it has done and depriving your cat of any attention, each time it misbehaves. Contrary to popular believe, cats do want attention, regardless of how aloof they may come across. It is always good to find ways to stimulate your cat to avoid boredom setting in. When your cat misbehaves and you don’t supply any attention or stimulus, it will register this in its brain, and your cats problems with behaviour can increase.

However cat pet training will work when you give your cat rewards, attention, and stimulus. You should act in this way whenever your cat behaves well. If it uses its litter tray, make a big fuss of your cat and spend some time playing with it. When it uses it's scratching post instead of your couch, reward it with attention and some treats. Once your cat understands that acting in a certain way will result in some form of reward, it will be more prone to act in that way.

From when your cat is a kitten, make sure that you spend plenty of time with it and offer it plenty of attention, so that it becomes normal for you to act in this way with your cat. When you ignore your cat after it misbehaves, it will focus more on doing things that gets it attention.

Cat pet training does work, it’s just a question of doing the right things, and knowing how your cat’s mind works, realise this and cat training becomes easier.

Keeping Rabbists as Pets

It’s easy to find many challenges involved in having a pet rabbit. But there are lots of positives, too. Here are some of the pros and cons…

Rabbits can live a long time, up to ten years or so. That in itself can be either a good or bad thing, depending on your point of view. People often view rabbits as something to amuse the kids when they’re yound. but having the life expectancy of a dog makes them a long term commitment. Think ahead.

Rabbits are suceptible to a few diseases that may be difficult to treat. Since they can’t vomit, a hairball can cause them serious intestinal trouble. The correct diet will help minimize the odds. Sometime they can contract something called RHD (Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease), a virus that can cause death. Even if they survive, they can spread it to other pet rabbits. They can be infested by fleas and mites, and all the potential complications that it brings.

Rabbits require some grooming, more than a cat, but considerably less than a dog. Though bathing them is unnecessary, and indeed not generally a good idea (rabbits can become overheated easily), they still benefit from a regular nail trim and brushing.

Some of that grooming effort is for the benefit of the rabbit, some of it is for you. Keeping them well brushed, but not harshly so, will help keep the amount of hair around the house down. Trimming their nails keeps them from being quite so destructive around the house if they’re left free to roam around.

A pet rabbit that is out of the cage can be quite destructive. They love to dig and they may chew almost incessantly. A rabbit’s teeth never stop growing and one way they keep them under control is to gnaw on things. That may be fine outside, but catastrophic indoors.

Rabbit proofing is the way to go here, but that involves though, effort, and sometimes a moderate expense. You’ll need to lay down covers for the couch or plastic laminates (such as those used under office chairs) and devise other protective measures. There are many ways to do this and it doesn’t have to be done all that often. Many people view the expense and effort as well worth it.

Vet care is important and ,as it is for any pet, expensive and time consuming. But with rabbits there’s often an additional problem: few vets have much experience with pet rabbits. Often, the litte creatures just don’t get the attention a dog or cat might. Often times, once a rabbit becomes ill, they sometimes die and are just replaced. That gives the vet less chances to treat them. Finding a good one in your area can sometimes be difficult.

But all that said, rabbits are still among the most fun pets. They’re cute, soft and they exhibit a surprising array of amusing behaviors. They can run around and express joy. When not in a stressful situation, they can respond well to a few people, like many other mammals. They’re affectionate, in their own way.

It’s hard to resist something as gentle and full of life as a pet rabbit. Weigh the factors yourself, then be prepared for surprises, just as you would with any pet.
